Brain Oxygen
The Problem
When it comes to standards, brain oxygen doesn’t exist in the likes of SNOMED, IEEE or Rosetta. This leads to complications to what to label brain oxygen as. These issues are especially common in medical devices, depending on the brain oxygen source. For example, one device may use the label UVP, which we know as umbilical venous pressure, for brain oxygen while another device may use PbtO2. This can lead to some confusion from site to site, especially if the source device is not known.
